build/buy Matrix - Bullet1986 - 30-09-2018 hi all, I am a couple of years into doing displays now and love the look of the matrix set ups that many use and want to incorparate one into my display can they be made just using a collection of the 1mtr Addressable strips or is it better to buy something already made? i am after something around a meter wide and tall enough to look impactful. any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated. the 32 x 8 on the site is far too small and unsure how i'd link multiple ones of these together. plus i'd like to get a matrix added to my display without remortgaging hope you're all getting prepped, i've left it late as usual. oops thank you in advance RE: build/buy Matrix - Craig - 01-10-2018 Yes you can build a pixel grid using addressable strips. If you want to display text we suggest a minimum of around 1.5m long as this allows several letters to be displayed (depending on height of the grid). We built one for a customer recently, a short video of it can be seen on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e_qo6y7DfA You can also build Pixel Grids out of individual pixels. Pixels will fill a larger area, as the spacing between the pixels is larger, but they are best viewed further away. You can link several ready made Matrix panels together, but the led spacing is very small and you would need a lot of them to fill any space. The Matrix panels are best for small signs rather than large pixel grids. We recommend that 8806 or 2801 type pixels/addressable strip are used. RE: build/buy Matrix - Bullet1986 - 01-10-2018 (01-10-2018, 06:41 PM)That\s pretty much what I'm after Craig. Can I order a setup the same as this or is that not a service you offer? If so, how much is it? Thanks Craig Wrote: Yes you can build a pixel grid using addressable strips. The are easy to do just a bit time consuming. i have made some that are 5 meters long to 50cm. All you need is time and patience and a few tools. Here is a test of one i made for a bar, colour is not set right and neither is the wording but you get the idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTerOP2PEQo here is another i threw together with different sizes of strip for different effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nLlyFj4Tyc like i said time and patience wins the game RE: build/buy Matrix - Bullet1986 - 02-10-2018 (02-10-2018, 10:40 AM)They look great. I don\t get how to wire them up. Me and soldering irons don't get on haha. I'm thick with this stuff so love anything I can just purchase and plug in Must've cost a bomb using mtr strips steve 1 Wrote: i make my own up. RE: build/buy Matrix - Jane - 03-10-2018 If you want to use pixels then we now have this product which will make fixing pixels easier. https://www.syncrolight.co.uk/ProductDetails/PXL-MOUNT-B.aspx We can normally make up a grid for a charge but are fully booked for this month. If you do not want to do any soldering or cutting of strips of pixels then we can get our supplier to cut and solder wires on with ends for you to connect but would have to find out cost, moq and lead time which will be at least 2 weeks. If you would like us to find out then please let us know. Regards Jane RE: build/buy Matrix - Bullet1986 - 03-10-2018 (03-10-2018, 04:57 PM)Hi Jane. Can you please email me a price for the set up that Craig posted. I\ve pmed you my email. Happy to get it in November. If you could also seek a price from your supplier I'd appreciate it as I Wrote: If you want to use pixels then we now have this product which will make fixing pixels easier.
